This is the 5th year I am ordering Prepare! ...

This is the 5th year I am ordering Prepare! for the lectionary year. I get a copy for myself and our music director. Since I am basically a lectionary preacher, this makes coordinating our services so much easier. The Word of God is presented in several different forms, thus emphasizing the message. Choosing hymns is the most difficult task for me since I am not a musician. Prepare! makes the task simpler for me. Appreciate that the new, new Presbyterian Hymnal, Glory to God, is included.

A great liturgical resource for music planning. Hymn and anthem suggestions from a variety of sources are included. This expands my music base and encourages me to include fresh choices in our services. A space for notes allows me to keep track of alternative hymns and anthems I'd like to use.

I have used this book in worship planning for a contemporary service since 2008. I love this book, as it offers a wide number of contemporary selections, while also listing appropriate traditional hymns. It's a great addition to use with Sundays and Seasons.

Not really a scary book

This is not really a "scary book" as I thought when I purchased it. You do get a lot of bible lessons, like one on each page, as the author clearly stated. I did enjoy it somewhat....the most disturbing thing I took away from it is that the Amish People worship Satanism and Witchcraft. I thought his claims were full of balogne but I did some serving this subject online for myself. Wow.....he was right and there was tons of information about it out there. Like I was the only one in the world that did not know this. The book was pretty slow in some parts but it was an easy read.

I started reading this book for entertainment but quickly found it to also be in agreement with my spiritual beliefs. I enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone that likes a good ghost story and also believe in the power of God.

Thank you for sharing your experiences with us! I couldn't put the book down. Yet again, an exciting, honest account of spiritual warfare. Most sequals aren't as good as the first but not so here. I recommend both "220 Fifth St" and "Nightmare in Holmes County".........looking forward to the next book.

Born 2 Be Different is a collection of stories expressing the trials and tribulations of different women. These women refuse to let their struggles keep them down. Having God in their lives made it possible to move pass their problems into bright futures.

This motivational book will help those looking to overcome their situation, to understand their worthiness and know it is okay to be different. I enjoyed, Born 2 Be Different, because it proves even though you have setbacks in your life, you have to look at them as set ups for what God has in store for you. I recommend this book to others and look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Powerful!!!

This book is such a good read. Latoya Gay and her writers invite you into their personal life and share their stories of trial and tribulations. It doesn't stop there, they also share how God moved in their life to help them overcome. These are real women who's trials became their triumphs and who's pain can help heal other women.
I was able to see myself in a few of these stories and it made me realize I wasn't alone. If God can bring them through, he most certainly can bring me through.

A Critique of the Critical

Have you ever felt destroyed, emotionally, in the depths of your being? Have you felt worthless -- a blight on humanity? Have you, perhaps, considered harming yourself because of that self-loathing? And, did this self-abhorrence start, not with an ungodly act on your part, but with a tongue-lashing someone, who may not have checked their facts, felt obliged to give you?
This booklet is a must-read for those who criticize, yes, but, perhaps, as well, it is a balancing and helpful and, possibly even healing viewpoint for those who have been criticized wrongly. In fact, were one to list the wrongful criticisms against the godly found in the Bible, it might well inure one from taking such criticisms too seriously.
The critical spirit to which June Hunt refers is not the “helpfully discerning,” one, but one that is unabashedly negative: that can, with so many words, destroy you emotionally, and even cripple your ability to function – but only if these words are taken at face value. This booklet will help us to discern the difference between the helpful and unhelpful types of criticism, and to eschew the latter.

In 25 Ways to Show Love to Your Wife: A Handbook for Husbands, author Doug Flanders, MD, highlights different ways to show love and appreciation toward one’s wife. Flanders offers great advice, and the book has a lot of good lessons, relating to topics such as learning to forgive, staying away from emotional affairs, and practicing common courtesies toward your wife. This book would be a good tool for a husband who needs marriage counseling, or for a husband in a healthy relationship who wants to go the extra mile and show his wife he really appreciates her. And though it’s written for husbands, a wife could read this book and pick up a lot of useful relationship information.

This book was enjoyable to read. I liked when Flanders listed different prayer ideas (i.e. praying for his wife’s brain, eyes, heart, etc.), along with correlating Bible verses. Flander’s list of date ideas were creative, and Chapter 18, Cherish Her Children, included a section of important (and fun) things to do with and teach your kids. I appreciated the Biblical theme and Scripture verses intertwined throughout the book, and I liked the story about how Jennifer took the pieces of china that Doug had broken in anger, and used them to make a mosaic mirror frame. The principles discussed in this book, like taking time to listen or enhancing communication skills, are good advice for anyone.

Admittedly I was intrigued by the book since it was written by a man and I wondered did he really understand how women want to be loved. I must confess that the book is spot on. Obviously some chapters will resonate with you more than others. Which is why I would recommend that you print the list and mark the ones that matter the most to you and share with your husband. On Doug's website he shares printable versions of the 25 Ways.

I have shared the list on my blog which correlates to each chapter in the book where Doug gives a little more depth, practical tips and a biblical verse or message to support it. I loved the list of date ideas (how can you not, when the first idea is to go for ice cream) and thought some of them were very creative.

I enjoyed the book. It is a quick read with practical tips.

The Interpreter Foundation is a nonprofit educational organization focused on the scriptures of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: the Book of Mormon, the Pearl of Great Price, the Bible, the Doctrine and Covenants, early LDS history, and related subjects. Our goal is to increase understanding of scripture through careful scholarly investigation and analysis of the insights provided by a wide range of ancillary disciplines, including language, history, archaeology, literature, culture, ethnohistory, art, geography, law, politics, philosophy, etc. Interpreter will also publish articles advocating the authenticity and historicity of LDS scripture and the Restoration, along with scholarly responses to critics of the LDS faith. We hope to illuminate, by study and faith, the eternal spiritual message of the scriptures—that Jesus is the Christ.
