Another excellent Josh Peck book!

Cherubim Chariots written by Josh Peck at Ministudy Ministry is well worth the purchase and time to read. Josh has the knack of explaining what might come across as difficult subjects to tackle and makes them very easy to grasp as well as making it possible to have a working knowledge of for use and discussion. Not only does he have this knack, he also does it in a way that is not too overwhelming and in a short book format that is easy to read quickly leaving you anticipating his next book. In this book he explains the difference between inter-dimensional over extra-dimensional in ufology and how and why it differs from extraterrestrial. He also talks about how certain technology of mankind may have been received from fallen angels, is in use today and, expanding for future use based on old agendas of these beings. He helps to put the truth behind the fallacy of ancient astronaut theory by showing how the vehicles used may actually come from the extra-dimensional places rather than extraterrestrial and that those pilots of some of vehicles are actually the fallen angels and not what the classic ufologists may explain away. He also aptly explains the perspective of prophets of the Bible, such as Ezekiel, peering at the Cherubim from our dimension and explains the very possible reason of just why and how they are described the way they are. It's fascinating! But that is only the tip of the iceberg of information he offers in this book. He has come across an extremely interesting find on Mount Herman, the place where Satan and the fallen angels who sided with him descended to intermingle with mankind and create giants and other altered beings that walked the Earth before God had to cleanse the Earth of the abominations via the flood and makes a possible tie into Roswell and Nazca. This find could speculatively explain why Hitler used the hand symbol he used and, in my opinion, why we may be seeing the reemergence of the same socialist type government spreading globally for these end times. He has interviews with very noted people such as Cris Putnman, Sharon Gilbert, Doug Woodward and, the Afterward by Perelandra Kilns who maintains Watcher Vault website (home of the previous works of David E. Flynn as well as other invaluable postings). Not only that but, his foreword is by Mark A. Flynn author of another phenomenal book worth reading, Forbidden Secrets of The Labyrinth. Mark is the twin brother to the late David E. Flynn who had done some extraordinary investigative work on his own that Josh references throughout Cherubim Chariots so, if you are a fan of the late David Flynn this book will not disappoint! After reading the book and hearing a couple of Josh's interviews it only makes me wish that David could have been here today just to be privy to the conversations these two would have had and the body of work they may have been able to do together. Please, do yourself a solid and buy this book as well as Josh Peck's other books Disclosure (the updated version) and Quantum Creation. You will walk away with knowledge you thought may have been beyond your grasp and be amazed at how easy he makes it for all to understand!

Must read!

Loved it, easy to read and understand! I've read books about extradimensional beings often being called aliens but never associated with being angelic entities. In this book Peck explores the hypothesis of angels/fallen angels as beings froms superior dimensions and answers some of the questions raised by those who have taken the time to read The Bible. Using bible texts to support the theory it only makes you wonder at the magnificence of God! Definitely pierces the veil that clouds our churches and society today! I recommend getting his previous book Quantum Creation in order to enjoy this book even more :)

If Josh Peck interests you it would be much better to invest your money on "Quantum Creation

Nothing but speculations throughout the book. On top of that there are so many unrelated comparisons to ancient writings that have nothing to do with Cherubim. If Josh Peck interests you it would be much better to invest your money on "Quantum Creation." If you are interested in the Unseen realm of spirits I strongly suggest Dr. Michael S. Heiser called "The Unseen Realm." Dr. Heiser covers the subject in great depth.

PREPARING FOR EASTER

I highly recommend this book by an author who is credible, both as a godly man, pastor, and mentor. It is the perfect way to approach the Lenten season and to be enriched spiritually during this most blessed time of the year. The passages for each day are easy to read and even a very busy individual could absorb the contents in a short time. I looked forward to each day's reading and felt better prepared as I approached the majesty of the risen Christ.

Accessible and Challenging Look at Foundational Christian Ideas

I found this book as I was preparing for a Sunday School class on the book of Revelation, and I was looking for some preteristy (preterish?) food for thought. I want to say off the bat that this book is not primarily an exegetical defense of preterism, so if that's what you're looking for, there are other books that might fit your bill a little better.

However, this is one of the very few books I've seen that deals with the question, "If A.D. 70 was a key eschatological event for the first century church, how does this affect the way we understand everything else they taught, and what should we look like as a result?"

Although the book does not divide itself into parts, I did in my head:

Part 1 - The Role of A.D. 70 in Biblical Eschatology

This part might be of interest to people studying preterism. There are a handful of aspects brought up that are not always dealt with in some preteristic works (such as the role of the kingdoms as guardians), but the book is not primarily an articulation and defense of preterism.

Rather, this section establishes the basic idea that the destruction of Jerusalem was continuous with Old Testament and New Testament eschatology and played an important role in the apocalyptism of Jesus, Paul, and the other apostles.

Part II: How does this affect the rest of the Scriptures?

While other authors have talked about this subject, they are pretty few and far between, but this section is very important. It demonstrates that you cannot separate categories like salvation, justification, and redemption from the historical, eschatological reality of a coming judgement on Jerusalem and the nations.

I love books that urge me to look at familiar passages differently and see if the new angle makes them more cogent, and Ross delivers on this point. A passage that sticks out to me is Peter urging the listening crowd to "Save yourselves from this wicked generation" - a passage that is difficult to understand against a backdrop of personal, faith-alone salvation from Hell, but makes a lot of sense in the context of following the path of Jesus to get safely through the coming judgement on the current power structure.

This section alone is worth the price of the book, and it raises important questions about whether or not evangelicalism's current obsession with saving the individual soul from Hell is really "the Gospel" as Jesus and the apostles understood it.

Part III: How did this affect the early church?

Ross begins to transition more to history, here, and look at how this understanding of events and the identity of the people of God shaped the belief and practice of the early church. He notes some things that might sound very foreign to believers, today, such as forbidding church members to serve in the military or political office.

But the main point here is that the early church defined herself in terms commensurate with the ideas presented in Parts I and II. Seeing themselves as the kingdom of God, the incarnate Temple, and the rag tag fleet that made it through the storm of judgement, how did this concept affect them?

Part IV: Ross brings all of this to bear on how the church ought to define herself, today, and what that might look like in practice. He offers an incredibly challenging, daunting, and inspiring vision for the church's community life and mission.

Here and elsewhere, I may not agree with Ross on every little point or application, but I certainly am on board with the overall trajectory and even to this day am still sifting through the ramifications. This book made me wonder if perhaps evangelicalism has become so focused on -convincing- people to become Christians that we've completely lost sight of becoming the sort of community that would make people want to become Christians in the first place. Instead, we tend to be kind of obnoxious.

Anyway, the book is both doctrinally and practically challenging, thought provoking, and very close to the pulse of how we understand the Bible and ourselves in the context of the Bible's own world. I'd never heard of this book, before, and found it by accident, but it deserves a place alongside your Wright and Perriman.

1 Section is Really Good

Odd thing, the part of this book that I found fascinating was the debate between penal substitution and Christus Victor.

The rest of it was either old material or ideas I don't think are warranted by scripture.

It's still worth every cent for the debate, the author makes an excellent case Christus Victor is the more accurate interpretation. I had never considered any other view beyond penal substitution.

Inspiration and Enlightenment

For a book of only twenty pages, it packs a lot of information... not just information, though: inspiration, enlightenment, spiritual understanding. This book really gets to the point really quickly--for example, the first chapter dives right into being healed by the Holy Spirit--and I found myself inspired as I read. I've learned so much in this book, and while each chapter deals with a different topic, each was also like a treasure trove. One thing I especially liked was how the author bolded some of the more important statements in the book. It really helps you understand what the take-away points of the chapter are. You truly will get to know the Holy Spirit after reading this book, and I highly recommend this!

Practical and straighforward

Josh McDowell uses what he's learned from his 40+ years of marriage to discuss ten choices you can make to help your marriage thrive. I liked that this book was not about getting your spouse to do something but what you can do yourself to help your marriage. The ten commitments (or love choices) make intuitive sense but he really breaks it down in a practical and straightforward way. All the chapters include a wealth of information delineating each commitment but some highlights for me included:
1. Making God a priority in my life: chapter even includes the salvation message
2. Loving and accepting myself: knowing God created me to be lovable, valuable, and competent
3. Being a fantastic lover: not really focused on physical aspect but on being other-focused and meeting partner's relational needs
4. Becoming a great listener: includes techniques to show that you are listening
5. Learning the art of communication: describes ten principles of communication
6. Demonstrating an accepting, loyal, and enduring love: also includes issues of purity and faithfulness
7. Resolving conflicts quickly: lists unhealthy responses to conflicts and describes five principles to resolving conflicts
8. Always forgiving: seek forgiveness, forgive others, forgive yourself
9. Making money matter: discusses being God's stewards, financial priorities, and budget management
10. Keeping your love fresh and alive: cultivating these ten commitments plus other tips such as humor, spontaneity
There is a 50 question assessment at the end of the book to help spouses figure out their relational needs (commitment #3). I liked how the author included Scripture verses throughout the book to reinforce his statements. I also enjoyed his personal testimony, stories, mistakes, and successes from his own marriage. I would have liked it if his wife, Dottie's, voice was included more so I could get her perspective on issues. I would recommend this book to both engaged and married couples because it really lays out every issue that spouses need for a lasting, committed, and happy marriage.

Understanding Will Help Your Marriage Thrive!

I think that this book will help any couple no matter how long they have been married. It really is good for any couple, not just married ones but dating ones as well. I found lots of practical and easy to understand advice. One area the author touches on is not being understood. He writes about most issues in marriage have to do with misunderstandings. These could be about how to spend money to how someone makes a comment with a certain tone in their voice. Being able to communicate that something is bothering you will help with any miscommunication that arises. I learned that truly listening to the other person and trying to understand what they are saying and feeling can help your marriage thrive not just survive. I would recommend this for any couple to read together or for one spouse to read to better understand the other.
