Must-have for liturgical lectionary pastors!

If you're a lectionary preacher, the Feasting On the Word series is a must-have resource. I was fortunate to receive the commentary series as a Christmas gift while I was in seminary - a part of my resource budget every year for the last three years now has been dedicated to picking up the worship companion resources that WJK has published since then. The authors in the worship companion books go to great lengths to write liturgical elements that incorporate and embrace the lectionary texts each week, and it's a wonderful tool to have at your disposal for any pastor who wants to ensure that they are crafting a service and liturgy that maintain thematic elements of the scriptures throughout.
For each Sunday of the Revised Common Lectionary, the Feasting worship companions offer a Call to Worship, Call to Confession, Prayer of Confession, Declaration of Forgiveness, Prayer of the Day, Prayer for Illumination, Prayers of Intercession, Invitation to the Offering, Prayer of Thanksgiving/Dedication, Charge and Blessing to use and incorporate into your weekly services. At the same time, the companion also offers prayers for weekly use in your own household in the morning and evening, as well as a question or two for reflection throughout the week. I use this reflection question at the beginning of each week to help start my congregation in possible discussion of the upcoming texts, but I also find that it helps me shape my own exploration of the texts as I go into sermon preparation.
One of the nice things about these companions is that during ordinary time, they provide liturgical material for both tracks of the lectionary - both semi-continuous and complementary. They also provide prayers of thanksgiving, thanksgiving for baptism, and other liturgical options that you might need for specific festival days and celebrations, which is always a nice further resource to have.

Five-star resource, but two stars off for odious document protection

Five stars for the content - using the Revised Common Lectionary, there is ample material here for every Sunday (plus All Saints). The material is uniformly well thought-out, makes good use of language, and directly references the lessons of the day.
Every entry includes Call to Worship, Call to Confession, Prayer of Confession, Declaration of Forgiveness, Prayer of the Day, Prayer for Illumination, Prayer of Intercession, Invitation to the Offering, Prayer of Dedication, Charge, and Benediction. There are three Great Prayers of Thanksgiving in the appendix - General, All Saints, and Reign of Christ - and they are excellent.
A real bonus is that each entry provides Questions for Reflection, and Household Prayers for morning and evening - superb take-home resources for worshipers.
I love the fact that for every "ordinary" Sunday, there is a separate and complete entry for both the Semi-continuous and the Complementary Lectionary readings. This is a real boon for worship planners who move back and forth between the two, and this is the only resource I've ever seen that addresses both sets of lessons. Well done!
Now for the bad news: the document protection on the CD is truly odious. Westminster/John Knox assumes that you are a criminal, and treats you as such. The CD includes two password-protected files, one in Word (.doc) format, and one in PDF. You must enter this password every single time you open the document - annoying (but very easy to fix), but the real odium is GETTING the password. You must go to a website, and you are required to give WJK your full name, address, phone number, and email. If you're unwilling to provide all that, too bad - "No password for you!" Further, for unknown and unpublished reasons, the website informed me that my email is "invalid," and I had to contact the publisher directly. And, finally, there's no privacy policy published - will I get ad-bombed by WJK? Will they give my information to their "partners"? No way to know.
If you're buying this book, you're a criminal, right? No, you're a pastor or a worship planner. Why then does WJK assume you're going to give these documents away for free? I am deeply insulted by this odious document security. The password-protection, in both formats, is ridiculously simple to remove. Give it up, WJK, this isn't a rap album, and your customers aren't going to post it on Pirate Bay (unless, perhaps, you enrage them enough). If you think this makes your content more secure, you're delusional. Yo, the password is *******. See how easy it would be to blow your "security"? All you're doing is p*ssing off your paying customers. Two stars off an otherwise excellent resource.
A further problem with the documents on the CD is that they are not keyed to the page numbers of the book, and WJK didn't bother to hyper-link the table of contents to the material in the document. If you want to copy-and-paste something on, say, page 248 of the book, you have to start at the top and scroll all the way through. There's no other way to get there. The Word version doesn't even HAVE page numbers, although both formats helpfully include two large bold lines of copyright infringement warning on every single page. WJK is far more interested in protecting their intellectual property, than they are with making it useful to those who purchase it.
